Let’s start off with the easiest and work our way to more difficult or involved tips. These are things that have worked for me in my business and most of them are free!
First, Plan Your Day. Creating a To-Do list for the month ahead, week or even day by
day is a good way to not only know what you need to do during your day but it also
gives you confidence and motivation to keep going as you cross off each task. Whether your list is in a planner or just on a sheet of paper, you’ll feel a sense of pride and accomplishment every time you check something off, especially the last task.
Tip #2: Time block your schedule. This goes hand in hand with a To-Do List but when
you time block your day, try silencing your cell phone and limiting other distractions
during each time block so you have your complete focus and attention dedicated to
each task in the time blocks. In between time blocks, you can give yourself a break,
whether it’s 10 minutes or an hour depending on how much you need to get done that
day, to get a snack, use the restroom, check on emails, etc. And like mentioned in Tip
#1, as you complete each time block you’ll feel that sense of accomplishment and
motivation to keep your workflow going.
Tip #3: Be more visible. I know social media might not be easy for everyone, I’m raising my hand here, because I may not be as tech savvy as most people but being present on social media is key to helping get your name and business out into the world. TikTok, Instagram and YouTube are the three most used platforms and I’ve found the most success on YouTube so that’s where most my focus is. Even though I
use multiple platforms, I’m consistent on all of them. Consistency is important for the algorithms and nurturing your audience. Book time blocks into your schedule for
creating content and posting on your social media platforms to help with consistency,
whether it’s daily posts or a few times a week. Learning how to use each platform is
important since they are all different, Google and YouTube videos can help provide
information to teach you to master each platform.
Tip #4: Create an E-mail List. Having your own e-mail list, or newsletter, creates this
awesome group of people that love you and want to hear from you and that’s why they
gave you their email to sign up for your newsletter. There’s so many reasons why you
need your own personal “fan club”, one being, you own them! Seriously though, if your business is internet based, like mine, and rely on platforms like YouTube or TikTok or Poshmark or eBay to make your money, guess what, those platforms are not yours and if they crashed tomorrow and you lost everything how would you reach out to all your people to continue your business? When you have an email list, you own it. You have to have your own domain name (it’s not expensive, trust me) and your email list and everyone on it is 100% yours. You are in direct contact with all those people all the time. And if something ever does happen to the wonderful world of social media and e-commerce etc you’ll be able to reach your people and let them know what happened and how they can continue to reach you and provide them with your new information. You can use your e-mail list to send a newsletter weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, which ever you’d like, and provide information, special events coming up, direct links to your website or other platforms you’re on. Also with an e-mail list, you can sell directly to your subscribers. They already love you by agreeing to be on your list so the chances you can sell to them and they bite is far greater than pitching blind on social media. Which brings us into Tip #5…
If your business is internet based, like mine, and you rely on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Poshmark or eBay to make your money, guess what, those platforms are not yours and if they crashed tomorrow and you lost everything how would you reach out to all your people to continue your business?
Tip #5: Create digital products. Digital products can include, virtual workshops,
webinars/ online courses, digital worksheets or workbooks/downloadable PDFs,
eBooks, check lists or guides, and templates or spreadsheets. Think about how you
can create a digital product relating to your business that you can sell directly to them in your newsletter. What problem would a potential customer of yours have that you can solve with a digital product? To tie tip #4 in, you can even create a “free” digital product to get people onto your e-mail list, hint hint. You can even offer your e-mail subscribers special ‘e-mail list subscriber only’ digital products or offer them a discounted price if they are a current subscriber or to your social media audience if they join. Constant research and learning is super important to help stay on top of the game and keep your business and practices relevant.
